The Western Sustainability and Pollution Prevention Network (WSPPN) and the California Environmental Protection Agency Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) announced today a video contest on the subject of pollution prevention. The contest is open to the public and the deadline for submission of a 60 second or less video is September 19. The winning videos will be featured during Pollution Prevention Week September 20-27; this year honoring the 20-year anniversary of the Pollution Prevention Act signed by Congress in 1990. Video contest winners will also be recognized at a ceremony during the WSPPN 2010 Conference in San Diego on October 27-28. Read more

LABS has posted a new set of videos on CWEA’s YouTube site. The hour-long six-part series is a recording of its April dinner meeting, which featured Sam Espinoza from the LA Sanitation Districts of LA County speaking about wastewater collection system operation and maintenance.

Summit on the Summit VideoWatch the Summit On The Summit: Kilimanjaro documentary which aired this week on MTV. The global clean water crisis brought Kenna, Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch, Lupe Fiasco and more to face the ominous Mount Kilimanjaro. The climb and the fundraising efforts support improved access to safe drinking water, and our friends – Water For People — were honored to be a beneficiary of this climb.

CWEA 2010 Annual Conference

There’s still time for CWEA members to enter the 2010 Opening Session Photo Contest!

Submit up to three of your best photos depicting recycling/recovery/resource management; green practice;energy conservation, or a sustainable solution for a wastewater related facility (e.g. innovative process, fuel cell, digester gas, recycled water, or biosolids project). The deadline to enter is March 19, 2010.

Judging will be based on originality, educational value and scenic presentation. Photos will be displayed at the Opening Session of the CWEA 2010 Annual Conference. Prizes valued at over $500 will be awarded to first, second and third place winners.
